# SyncWords API documentation

> The SyncWords APIs, for live streams and for recorded media.

Two APIs, one set of credentials. The Live API runs captioning, translation and dubbing on live
streams. The VOD Express API does the same for recorded video and audio, file by file.

- **[Live API](/live)**: Create live captioning, translation and dubbing services, start and stop them, and read their status and usage.
- **[VOD Express API](/vod-express)**: Describe once what to do, then drop files into a project: each one is transcribed, translated, dubbed and packaged.

## One login for both

Both APIs take the same bearer token, made from your organization's key pair by either API:
the Live API's `POST /v2/token/create` or VOD Express's `POST /v1/token/create`. [Authentication](/vod-express/authentication) shows the call in
cURL, Python and Node.js, and what a 401 or 403 means.
